Upcycled Wooden Heart Wall Decoration

I made this project for a Christmas project. I got the original heart shape from the thrift store for $1.99.

Next, I sanded it down.

Then, I painted it red.

Using some scrap cardboard and some scrapbook paper, I cut out the same heart shape and glued them together with a glue stick. (Using liquid glue can make the paper wrinkle up when it dries).

I attached it to the back of the wooden heart.

 Here is the final product.

It can just be a decoration for the wall or you can also use it for wine cork storage.

Child-Made Teacher Appreciation Gift

I bought all the items needed to make this gift at Dollar Tree. These bags came in a pack of 3 for $1! Which turned out perfect as my son has 3 teachers.

L painted the bags with a sponge brush and then I wrote each teacher's name with glitter glue.

Inside is a decorative notepad set and some mints in a million dollar wrapper. So, for the note I attached, I just wrote "You are worth a million dollars to me."

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all you wonderful teachers and parents!!!

Brain Overload/New Etsy Shop!

So, it was my first day back to work. All I can say is too much info! Lol. There is a lot going on at CDC Head Start this year. Hopefully, I will be sharing lots of things we are implementing in the classroom this year. For more information about the National Head Start Association, click the link.

Also, my shop on Etsy is now open, Cachey Mama's Creations. So far, I just have my wine bottle lamps for sale which make very good gifts. I hope to be adding jewelry and other various crafts soon. Please check out my shop and tell your friends!!!

Last Minute Mother's Day Gift

So... if you are like me, you are completely bogged down with getting everything done for the end of the year. With only 2 weeks left of school, it seems impossible to get everything done in the limited amount of time we have. I decided to do a quick craft with the kids for Mother's Day, a refrigerator magnet. I bought some craft foam sheets from the dollar store and cut out small flowers about 3 inches across. Then I had the kids spread some glitter glue on it with a paintbrush, layer 2 of the flowers together and put a foam circle in the middle.

Then we glued a magnet to the back.

It is quick and simple for kids to make, but cute. I also found a short poem online:

My Mother, my friend so dear
throughout my life you're always near.
A tender smile to guide my way
You're the sunshine to light my day.

I printed the poem out on a card for the kids to decorate. You can use flower stickers or other bright colorful stickers to spruce it up a little.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
