Distinguishing Between Number, Letter, and Word

This is a literacy activity we did to see if the students could distinguish a number from a letter and a letter from a word. Surprisingly, both classes did really well with it. I mostly had the older children participate. This is super easy to prepare and great for practice with beginning reading skills. 

Farm Study

Thinky Linky Thursday: Look What I Did with a Leaf!

This is the homework that we sent home this week. We read the book Look What I Did with a Leaf as shown in this blog post. The students were supposed to make a figure out of leaves such as a person, animal, etc. Here is what they came up with:

Also, we have been keeping track of the weather and charting it this week. We will continue this next week by drawing a thermometer and seeing where each of the temperatures are on it as the children did not seem to understand the concept of such big numbers and which was higher or lower than the other.
